Speaking to presspersons, Mr. Gowda said that if the high command did not take action, it would create confusion among the party workers.
To a question on the party issuing a notice to the former Union Minister V. Dhananjaya Kumar, Mr. Gowda said that it was a matter left to the president of the State unit of the party.
He said that he had been urging the high command to appoint a new president to the State unit. It was expected that the national executive of the party held sometime ago would take a decision. But nothing happened.
Mr. Gowda exuded confidence that the former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa would not quit the Bharatiya Janata Party. Mr. Yeddyurappa had built the BJP in the State, he said.
The former Chief Minister said that Mr. Yeddyurappa had leadership skills. He should use it to lead the BJP. If Mr. Yeddyurappa went to any other party, his leadership skills would not be of any help.
Referring to the Cauvery issue Mr. Gowda said that if the Supreme Court observation went against the State, the BJP MLAs in the State should be ready to quit. It was important to protect the interests of the people of the State.
