Puttur, October 13: An incident of a woman and her little child being assaulted by a group of miscreants has been reported from Koltige village in Puttur taluk.
The lady has alleged that in spite of filing a complaint with the police, no action has been taken yet. A resident of Sthalamane of Koltige, Chitraprabha Rai, wife of Chikkarama Kumar, was injured along with her three and a half year old son Sankesh Kumar. Sankesh's hand has been fractured due to the assault.
Ms. Chitraprabha has alleged that Ashok Kumar, son of Laxman Gowda, Varijaakshi, Anitha, and Venugopal Gowda, all local residents, carried out the assault and threatened to finish her family off. A property dispute is reportedly the cause of the assault.
The accused had come to her house on Tuesday evening and threatened her. In spite of filing a complaint with the Sampya police, no investigation was done. The next day, the accused entered her house when her husband was away and assaulted her with a club, hurting her little son in the process, she said. Her elder son was in the neighbouring house when the incident took place and hence he was saved from the assault. The accused flaunted of political backing and threatened to finish her family off, she said. Ms. Chitraprabha has also complained that Ashok Kumar has snatched her necklace.
Since no action was taken by the police, Mr. Chikkarama Kumar appeared before mediapersons at Puttur Press Club along with his injured son and spoke about his problems.
