Mangalore, October 13: Four artists from Haveri and Dharwad have exhibited their paintings at Prasad Art Gallery here for a period of five days from Saturday.
The exhibition titled 'Janapada Jeevagalu' (folk lives) featured paintings by artists Kariyappa Hanchinamani and Shiva Hadimani from Haveri as well as Kumar Katenahalli and Kallappa Chougale from the district of Dharwad.
Inaugurating the exhibition, President of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Sangama M Raghunath Shet said that the style of painting today had evolved and changed over a period of time. With time, paintings can be seen changing along with an individual's point of view, he said.
He said that the artists should carry on with their art without the enticement of monetary gains. The government should construct a theatre in the city to encourage artists and to exhibit their work, he opined.
President of Dakshina Kannada Zilla Makkala Sahitya Prof Ananth Padmanabha Rao said that we ought not to be merely successful through our work, but also effective.
Altogether 35 oil and acrylic paintings with the theme of folk have been exhibited in the art gallery.
