Mangalore, October 20: As the crescent moon was sighted in Kapat Parappanangadi in the neighboring state of Kerala on last Tuesday night, October 16 indicating the beginning of the month of Dhul Hajj, Eid-ul-Adha will be celebrated on October 26.
At an emergency meeting convened after the confirmed reports of sighting of the moon on October 16, it has been unanimously decided that Eid would be celebrated on Friday, said Mangalore Qazi Thwaka Ahmed Musliyar, Ullal Qazi Abdur Rahman Thangal and Udupi Qazi P M Ibrahim Musliyar Bekal in a release.
The same was announced by Udupi Shariyah Qazi Ubaidullah Aboobaker Nadvi, Atradi Qazi V K Aboobaker Musliyar and Udupi district Muslim Union President M P Moidinabba.
It had been previously announced that Eid would be celebrated on October 27.

Mangalore, October 19: Since the moon of the month of Dhul Hajj was sighted on the night of October 17, Eid-ul-Adha would be celebrated in Mangalore on October 27.
In the absence of Mangalore Qazi Thwaka Ahmed Musliyar, the current Khateeb of Zeenath Baksh Masjid VK Sadaqatullah Faizi has made this announcement, a press statement from Y Abdullah Kunhi, President of Zeenath Baksh and Eidgah Masjids states.
Ullal Qazi Assayyad Abdur Rehman Kunhikoya Al Bukhari has also announced that Bakrid will fall on Saturday, October 27, US Hamza, President of Ullal Juma Masjid and Syed Madani Dargah Committee, has stated.
Similarly, Udupi Qazi PM Ibrahim Musliyar Bekal has also made a similar announcement, Chief Secretary MA Bava has stated.
