Mangalore, October 20: Mangalore Airport Director M R Vasudeva exhorted the students to market their talents without any hesitation and brace themselves to face the society.
He was speaking after inaugurating the students' union and 'talents day-2012' celebrations at Mangala Auditorium in Mangalore University, here, recently.
“Brace yourselves during the academic career to face the society in future”, he said, while reminding the students that academic work never applied in practical life.
Academic work, however, provides enough confidence and ample knowledge to form a better personality, he explained, adding that merely a degree certificate is not everything unless there is no exposure to external environment.
Encouraging the students to work hard, he called upon them to appear for competitive exams and get into administrative services.
In his presidential address, Mangalore University Vice Chancellor T C Shivashankara Murthy said that education must create character among the students. He urged the students to get into administrative services and aspire for greater heights.
Extending support to the students' welfare, he said that the management always welcomed the opinion of the students for more facilities and infrastructure.
Director of Student Welfare Council A M A Khader administered the oath to the newly elected office bearers of student's union 2012.
University Registrar Prof Palale Subrahmanya Yadapadithaya also spoke on the occasion. Hilson D'Souza, president of students' union, welcomed the gathering.
The newly elected office-bearers of the students union are: Hilson D'Souza (President), Prashanth Kumar (Vice President), Parvin M S (Secretary), Shravan Kumar Jain (Joint Secretary), Sumithra H V (Cultural Secretary) and Naveen Naik (Joint Cultural Secretary).
