Mangalore, November 2: The installation of office bearers of Indian Medical Association, Mangaluru branch for the year 2012-2013 took place recently at Dr. A. V. Rao Conference Hall, IMA House, in the city.
The new team headed by Dr. M. Manjunath Shenoy was installed by Yenepoya Abdullah Kunhi, Chancellor of Yenepoya University, who was the chief guest and installation officer.
Dr. P. Chandramohan, Vice Chancellor of Yenepoya University was the guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Kunhi felicitated the new and old office bearers and observed that Mangalore has a long history of producing many great doctors.
“Today Mangalore also has the highest number of medical colleges in terms of regional proportion. These colleges are producing medical graduates who shall serve all over India and in different parts of the world. Hence doctors of Mangalore should become role models for these young people and inspire them to serve the profession with excellence and ethics,” he advised.
In his address Dr. P. Chandramohan observed that IMA Mangaluru Branch was one of the oldest IMA units in the country and congratulated the new team.
In his first address as President, Dr. M. Manjunath Shenoy thanked all those who had helped him and assured the gathering that he would continue the good work done by the previous team.

The programme began with IMA prayer rendered by Dr. G.K. Bhat Sankabithilu. This was followed by an audio visual presentation by the outgoing secretary Dr A. Harish Rao highlighting the year's activities. 'Medilore' News bulletin of IMA Mangaluru Branch was released on the occasion. The outgoing President Dr. J. P. Shetty welcomed the gathering and Dr Nithish M. Bhandary proposed the Vote of Thanks. Dr. Animesh Jain compered the programme.
