Mangalore, November 3: Though the Congress led UPA government gave Rs 80,000 crores for developmental work in Karnataka, the BJP led state government has misused the money for personal gains, said  KPCC General Secretary Ivan D'Souza.

Addressing media persons at District Congress Office, here, he lashed out state BJP leaders for their remarks against Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi and district Congress leaders after a recent Congress convention in city.

He lashed out MLC Monappa Bhandary for his personal remarks against former MLA Vijay Kumar Shetty. “Though Congress is open to criticism, it can't not bear people criticising its leaders on their personal grounds. Mr Bhandary's comment insulting Mr Shetty is condemnable”, he said.

He said that being the opposition in the state, Congress has the right to question on how the money was spent. However, BJP is not giving clear answers, instead it is trying to hide its mistakes by pointing fingers at the Centre, Mr D'Souza said.

BJP leaders are involved in several scams such as the mining scam, illegal ore transportation, transferring government officials by taking bribe and several others. Most of the BJP leaders have huge property. They should declare their assets and source of their money, he said.

JD(S) State Unit President H D Kumaraswamy on his recent visit mocked at Union Minister M Veerappa Moily saying that he is dreaming of Congress coming into power sitting in an AC room.

“JD(S) does not have moral right in coming into power. They are responsible for BJP coming into power in the state. It is better Kumaraswamy drops his dream of coming into power,” said D'Souza.

“The BJP leaders visit to the Endosulfan affected areas in DK district is just a publicity stunt. It is sad that they have not done anything for the victims. The Kerala government is offering Rs 2.5 lakhs as compensation to the affected families. However in Karnataka, the government seems to be not bothered about the victims,” he said.
