Kundapur, November 6: The family members of a girl who died in Kadali of Hosoor in Kundapur taluk have approached Udupi district in charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary appealing him to initiate investigation from senior officers as they are finding her death suspicious.
The deceased Sowmya went missing on October 29 and was found hanging apparently suggesting suicide on November 1. But family members are suspicious of her cause of death. Her brother Yogish met Mr. Poojary and requested him to look into the matter.
It is said that some peoplein the vicinity had been troubling Sowmya. She had set out of her house on October 29 at 2:00 pm in the afternoon and was found hanging by her choodidar shawl on a tree in a forest located amidst Reserve Forest area about 1 km away from her house.
Locals have reportedly said that they saw Sowmya leaving in a motorbike with another person. The question being asked is what was the need for Sowmya to commit suicide 1 km away while there were enough trees around her own house? It is being suspected that some people are behind her death and hence her brother has appealed for a higher level probe.
Her family members say that she had no reason to commit suicide as her wedding was fixed for November 23 and invitation cards had already been distributed among friends and relatives. She was speaking to some people over phone on the day she went missing and her phone records are likely to shed more light on her cause of death, they say.
