Call centre employee commits suicide

Mulky, November 10: A 24-year-old call centre employee allegedly committed suicide at the Shambavi River on Friday November 9.

The deceased is Vinod Kumar, a native of Kadavina Bhagilu.

Vinod had left for work on Wednesday and did not return home since then. Upon search, the body has found near a river in Athikaari village. His bike was found abandoned. He has been skipping work from the couple of days.

Mulky Police have registered a case of unnatural death.

The body was handed over to the family members after a post-mortem examination. The deceased had not left a death note. The motive behind the suicide is yet to be ascertained, police said.

Mangaluru: Police have arrested five miscreants belonging to saffron outfits for pelting stones at a masjid at Katipalla near Surathkal on the outskirts of the city last night. 

The arrested have been identified as Bharat, Chennappa, Nitin, Manu and Sujit all residents of Surathkal and surrounding areas. Among them, Bharat is said to be a rowdy sheeter. 

The miscreants, who came on two motorbikes late on Sunday night, pelted stones at Masjidul Huda, located at 3rd block of Katipalla on the eve of Miladunnabi.  

Confirming the incident, City Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal said that investigation is in progress and a case has been registered at Surathkal police station.
