Puttur, November 19: In a shocking incident, two women were found brutally murdered on Monday at Kabaka in Puttur taluk of Dakshina Kannada district.
Police sources said that the bodies of the two women –aged around 55 and 20 years- whose identities yet to be ascertained were found lying near the railway track under a bridge.
While the elder woman was wearing saree, the younger woman was wearing burqa over chudidar. The women were apparently bludgeoned to death with a sharp weapon.
A tense atmosphere prevailed in the area after the incident came to light in the early hours of Monday.
Superintendent of Police Abhishek Goyal and railway police officers rushed to the spot. Both the bodies have been sent for post mortem. A sharp weapon also has been seized from the spot.
Though sniffer dogs were pressed into service, the police could not get any vital clue immediately.
A case has been registered at the jurisdictional police station.
The development comes more than one-and-a-half month after an elderly couple was murdered in at Kodimbala village of Puttur taluk.
