Mangalore, November 19: Popular Front of India has brushed aside the media reports of receiving financial aid from Sangh Parivar to bring large number of people to its recently held convention at Nehru Maidan in the coastal city.
Several thousand people from different parts of the coastal Karnataka had taken part in the convention held on November 2 as part of PFI's nationwide campaign “Why Popular Front”.
A media report had claimed that PFI had accepted financial aid from Sangh Parivar for the “success of this convention”. The report went on to claim that PFI leaders had held a secret meeting with their Sangh Parivar counterparts to achieve mutual interest.
In a media conference on Monday leaders of Dakshina District unit of PFI Abdul Razzak, Ataullah Jokatte, Nazeer and Shahul demanded an unconditional apology from the Mangalore based Kannada evening paper for publishing “malicious report” against their organisation.
“The report aims to tarnish the image of PFI, a responsible social organisation which is striving for a noble cause since last 23 years,” they said adding that the allegations of secret agreement between PFI and Sangh Parivar were part of the on-going campaign to weaken the moral strength of the organisation.
“We are ready to launch a legal battle against the reporter and the eveninger if they failed to apologise for their lie”, they warned.
