Mangalore, November 27: An incident of a chicken stall worker being hacked to death in Yekkar-Durganagar under Bajpe police station limits, has come to light on Tuesday morning.

The victim has been identified as Siddappa Gowda (40), a native of Bhadravathi.

Gowda, along with fellow stall colleague Shivananda would sleep in a room inside the shop after finishing off the day's work. Last night the two reportedly had dinner together and consumed liquor. Although the two slept together, when Mr. Shivananda woke up in the morning, he did not find Gowda in the room and found his dead body lying outside the shop.

Injuries on Gowda's body suggest that he was attacked by sharp weapons. The locals immediately informed Bajpe police. A team led by Inspector Dinaker Shetty arrived at the spot and carried out enquiry. The intention of the murder is yet to be ascertained.

Gowda had joined the shop as a worker four months back. He had also married a girl hailing from Kuppepadavu's Kudubi community and is survived by two children.
