Mangalore, December 5: In a shocking incident, a minor girl from K C Road in Mangalore taluk was allegedly gang-raped by at least two men for more than an hour on the outskirts of the city.
The victim Fathima (name changed) has been admitted to a private hospital for emergency treatment. The accused identified as Ismaeel (29), the owner of the victim's rented house and his friend Raheem, a resident of Uppala, have been absconding after the incident.
According to the elder sister of the 14-year-old victim, the later was picked up from her house on Tuesday afternoon by Ismaeel.
The incident occurred when the mother of two girls, had been to Mudipu village to find a house for rent, as their agreement with the owners of current rented-house in K C Road had expired.
Ismaeel, who entered the house at around 2:30, convinced the partially mentally challenged girl that he would take her to her mother. However, at a distance from the house, Ismaeel's friend Raheem picked them up in a care and took them to BC Road and then to Uppala, where she was repeatedly raped by the duo, said the victim's sister.
The accused finally dumped the girl in front of her house in K C Road in the wee hours of Wednesday and fled the scene.
A tense situation has prevailed in the area following the incident. A case has been registered at Ullal Police Station. Police have launched a manhunt to nab the culprits.
Since the victim is a minor, the CWC has taken her under its care and protection, said Asha Nayak, chairperson of CWC.
It is learnt that the girl had recently quit the school after allegedly facing harassment by other students.
