“As the global standards and urban population is increasing day by day, so does the urban waste. It is estimated that the global household waste is set to increase from its current 1.3billion to 2.2 billion by 2025. For an ever growing city like Mangalore, managing waste is indeed very essential and significant. Waste is a human concept, and nothing is actually a waste in nature. But management of enormous amount of waste created by man is the task of the decade. For tackling the waste problem, we need to find innovative ideas, suiting our economy and tradition, which can evolve through scientific deliberation. So, the aim of this seminar is to develop a holistic approach towards reducing the problem and to sensitize the general public about their role” informed the release.
