Inaugurating the Karnataka State Meet of All India Catholic University Federation (AICUF) at Shanti Kiran, Bajjodi, Mangalore, on Saturday, he said that in today's world, globalisation was a giant in the capitalist system that threatened to destroy the regional languages, its identity, its uniqueness and its diffusion.
“To fight this giant, we must unite to ignite new hope. We must all come together to protect our regional identity, fight against corruption. Change can be brought only revolution. Let us march with resolve and determination to transform our society into one where there is justice for everyone,” he said.
He said that AICUF had been a vibrant movement 40 years ago, which worked for the cause of the liberation of the oppressed and downtrodden, when the capitalist powers controlled various spheres and aspects of the society. “You can either live your life indifferently, or you can live for a cause. I chose to the latter and my dedication, determination and devotion to the cause of the oppressed have never diminished. I have not stopped dreaming for a just society,” said Mr Ozario.
AICUF National Advisor Selvin Raj and state secretary Natalia were present on the occasion.
The three-day state meet saw 25 units of AICUF from colleges across the state participating in the event titled 'Unite to ignite new hope'. Mr Ozario hosted the AICUF flag prior to his address.
Ralston Menezes welcomed the gathering, while Prof Anoop Denzil delivered a vote of thanks.
