Mangalore, December 10: The RC-KSCA Cricket Academy was inaugurated at the premises of Sahyadri College, Adyar, Mangalore, on Monday.
Anil Kumble, President, KSCA, Javagal Srinath, Secretary, KSCA, Syed Kirmani, former India wicket-keeper batsman took part in the inauguration besides other KSCA officials.
In an interactive session, Mr. Srinath explained the aims and objectives of the new coaching initiatives being taken by the KSCA. The new methods include implementation of video technology in analyzing the performance of kids, he said.
Training will be provided four days a week (Monday-Thursday) and no compromise will be made on the studies of children, Mr. Srinath said.
Speaking at the formal programme, Shantaram Shetty, Vice Chancellor, Nitte University, who was the chief guest, said that all these years cricket was an art but now the KSCA had also brought in science in the game. He also appreciated the fact that in Mr. Srinath and Kumble, the KSCA has found able leaders as they are cricketers themselves.
The turf wickets for the purpose were also inaugurated on the occasion. These wickets are the first turf wickets made available for general coaching in the city of Mangalore.
The land has been taken by KSCA on lease from the Sahyadri College for three years and will be maintained by the KSCA for the said duration.
Dayananda Pai, Chairman of KSCA Mangalore Zone, N Prakash, Deputy Commissioner, DK, Manish Kharbikar, Mangalore City Police Commissioner, Srikanth Rai, President, DKCA, Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman, Bhandary Foundation were present among others.
