Bangalore, December 21: General Secretary of All India Sunni Ulama Federation Kanthapuram A P Aboobaker called on Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar and Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister R Ashok seeking justice for under-trial PDP leader Abdunnaser Ma'adani.
Ma'adani was among the 31 persons chargesheeted for the 2008 Bangalore blast which killed one person and injured 20. He was arrested in August 2010 by the Karnataka police on charges of conspiracy and sheltering some of the key accused after the blasts.
Submitting a memorandum in this regard, Mr Aboobaker urged that if Ma'adani found guilty, let the punishment fit the crime.
He also reminded them that earlier Ma'adani spent nine years in jail when he was named an accused in the Coimbatore serial bomb blasts on February 14, 1998, which killed 58 people. After nine years imprisonment, the court acquitted him citing lack of evidence. Now once again he has been arrested on a similar charge, he said.
Later he met Abdunnasar Ma'adni in jail and enquired his health.
Kerala SYS President Ponmala Abdul Khadir Musliyar, Markaz Professor Dr Hussain Saqafi Chullikod, Maleyakal Suleiman Saqafi, Karnataka State Wakf Boad Member N K M Shafi Sa'adi Bangalore, SSF State President Yaqoob Yusuf and others were present.
