Kasargod, December 29: Police have arrested three more persons in connection with the alleged 'gang- rape' of an 18-year-old girl from Kanyana, on Friday.
The arrested have been identified as Mohammed Kunhi (24), his friends Hussain (26) and Unnais (35). All the arrested are from Uduma Kundolam Para. Among them Unnais who was working in Gulf had returned to his native last month. The police have also seized the car used for the crime.
However, all police have said that during the investigation it has come to light that none among the above three arrested had involved in gang-rape.
Police said that one of the accused identified as Asgar knew the girl, who was working as a maid in Mangalore. He had contacted the girl and had asked her to come to Kumbla in Kasargod district.
Police said that as the girl was looking for help in the bus stand, an auto driver Ganesh from Posthadka offered to help her. As soon as the victim boarded his auto, he contacted his two other friends and the trio raped her again in a secluded place.
The victim was admitted to a hospital by Kumbla police after members of public informed them, when they saw her in an unconscious state. The girl's father had deserted her two months ago. Her mother is in Manjeshwara after her second marriage.
She was working in an apartment in Falnir, Mangalore for the last five years.
It may be recalled that the Kumbla police had arrested Ganesh on Thursday and with the arrest of three persons on Friday, the police have arrested four persons involved in the crime while three more are still at large. Further investigations are on.
