Mangalore, Jan 5: The 'Talent Library' for IAS, KAS, and other competitive exams was inaugurated at the office of Talent Research Foundation (TRF) in Mangalore on Friday, in the presence of Mangalore Qazi Thwaka Ahmed Musliyar.
Speaking after inaugurating the library, Abdul Ahad Puthige, Superintendent of Police (SP), CID, Bangalore, said that students must not run away from attempting competitive exams.
“It is true that there is corruption prevailing in the system. But competitive exams still come about as great opportunities for students. The exams will be fair and now with the Right to Information (RTI) coming in, there is greater transparency in operations so there is nothing to be scared of”, he said.
U T Khader, MLA, in his address said that five to six years ago, people especially in the Muslim community would not give giving competitive exams a go. The library set up by TRF will give strength and encouragement for more students to come forward and write competitive exams, he said.
Mr. Khader on the occasion also expressed concerns on the declining reading habit among youngsters and children. “It is the parents' responsibility to inculcate reading habit in their children. On weekends one finds parents taking their children to malls and leisure exhibitions but there would hardly be a soul at book exhibitions”, he said.
Dr. C P Habib Rahman, Chairman, Unity Hospital, Mangalore, said that Mangalore which was once known for tiles is today known for education and healthcare. There is a need to identify and bring out rural talents and encourage them and TRF is going in the right direction, he observed.
Abdul Rauf Puthige, Chairman, TRF, Ashraf G Bawa, Vice Chairman, were present among others.
