Addressing the Congress party workers in Udupi, on Sunday, he said that from an outset it so seems that ruling party BJP has had a role to play in the mysterious killing of the activist, who was hellbent on unearthing several misdeeds of BJP in the district. Hence the police will not be able to do any justice to the case.
Elaborating on the same, Madhwaraj said that Adiga had reportedly sought information under RTI on certain details pertaining to Nirmiti Kendra. The Kendra is said to have taken up work of crores of rupees with the help of the MLA without floating tenders for the same. A particular official of the Kendra has built a house costing about Rs ten crore. Udupi Town Hall renovation too was done by the Kendra at a cost of Rs four crore. Adiga had also sought information on funds of several temples of the region under coming under Endowment Department.
“The Town Hall has been made inaccessible to common man. A rent of Rs 45,000 has been fixed for a day's programme. A poor man cannot even think of holding a programme here,” said Madhwaraj adding that the BJP has converted everything in the district into a commercial venture.
“MLA Raghupathi Bhat has said that Rs 450 crore has been spent to take up various developmental works in the district. Center had released Rs 80,000 crore for the State, from which district received Rs 357 crore. It is the Center's fund which has been used in the State for development,” said Madhwaraj adding that the State government's achievement is the debt of Rs one lakh crore which it has made during its term.
Over ten individuals joined Congress party on the occasion. AICC Secretary Vinay Kumar Sorake among others were present.
