Family members of the 12-year-old girl were shocked when she went home for lunch, teary-eyed and with blood on her hands. The accused has been identified as Rakshita, a science teacher.
Student's uncle Vaman Nayak said that the girl was absent for a few days around four months ago as she met with an accident and hence had not completed her notes. When she completed and submitted the notes to her teacher, she allegedly refused to correct due to delayed submission.
However, on Tuesday, the teacher noticed that her previous notes was not corrected and hence slapped the student and canned her brutally on her hands, legs and back.
Vaman Nayak says that the girl was devastated and returned home in tears and her wounds were bleeding and her face was swollen."I have complained to the school authroties earlier as two months back she was pinched by her tecaher and the wound had turned blue. However, this is height of violence," says Nayak.
The girl was taken to Wenlock Hospital for treatment and later Nayak filed a complaint in Bunder Police Station.
Police sources say that the case under IPC 1860 (U/S - 324) has been registered and the teacher Rakshitha was arrested and released on bail on Wednesday. The cane, which Rakshitha used to hit the student has been siezed and we are awaiting for medical report from hospital, they said.
DDPI Moses Jayashekar said that he has asked the BEO to investigate the matter and submit a report. If the teacher is proved guilty, then the school management will be directed to take appropriate action, he added.
