Mangalore, Jan 24: A distinguished professor in her remark lauding the capabilities of women has compared the gender to 'plastic'.
New York University Global Distinguished Professor Dr Rajeswari Sunder Rajan inaugurating a national seminar on 'contemporary feminism in Indian' organized by St Aloysius College PG Department in English on Wednesday said that women are all rounders and have immense multi tasking capabilities. “Women are strong and are shining in different sectors. The strength and capabilities of women can be compared to plastic,” said the Professor adding that, the position women enjoy in the society is the index to the quality and development of the society.
Mangalore University Department of English Associate Professor Dr Parinitha spoke on the topic 'Being women'.
St Aloysius College PG Department in English HoD Dr A Lourdusamy said that the modern day woman can be compared to a rainbow, multi-hued and yet a single entity. The seminar is the need of the hour and aims at comprehending the multiple nuances associated with women.
Around 40 research papers were presented by the participants. St Aloysius College Applied Biology laboratory Director Rev Fr Dr Leo D'Souza was the chief guest of the valedictory.
