School and college students, who visited the station, were guided by Coast Guard personnel.
Sources in Coast Guard said the station's theme was “Educative interaction”. This was the first effort by the organisation to educate the youth in understanding social responsibilities. As a phase two event, officers would deliver lectures in various colleges of Uttara Kannada and distribute pamphlets on Coast Guard's induction policy.
The evening at ICGS, Karwar station, saw a cheerful get-together of Coast Guard personnel and representatives from various agencies.
The station would soon organise a “Coast Guard Week”, where an adventure camp, visit to an orphanage, and a creative interaction for those aspiring to join the Coast Guard had been planned, the sources said. NCC cadets from Shivaji High School, St Joseph's School, and Hindu High School visited the station and interacted with the personnel.
Students from the Government Higher Primary School, Arga, too visited the Coast Guard station.
