PFI is ready to reconstruct Babri Masjid'

Bantwal, Feb 18: Decades after the incident, the issues pertaining to attack on Babri Masjid and its pending reconstruction was taken up by the Popular Front of India (PFI) during the Popular Front Day celebration held at Tipu Sultan Nagar, Kaikamba in Bantwal, on Sunday.

Delivering the keynote address, PFI chairman K M Sharief said that the attack on Babri Masjid was nothing but an attack on the constitution of the country. “The organization is ready to undertake the reconstruction of the masjid,” said Sharief who called PFI as an organization not just for the leaders but also for the oppressed, the exploited and the minorities. “This is an organization which is ready to die for the country when need arises,” Sharief proclaimed.

PFI state vice-president Razak Kemmar presided over the convention. Khateeb of Atoor Koyla Masjid Assayed Al-Hadi Anas Thangal spoke on the occasion. SDPI state vice-president Abdul Lathif, district president Abdul Jaleel K, All India Imam Council district committee member Jaffer Sadiq Faizi, PFI district president Ataullah Jokatte, Bantwal unit president Shahul Hameed, Udupi district president Nisar, CFI district president Imran Thumbe and others were present on the occasion.

As part of the programme, a 'Unity' march and rally was undertaken earlier from Tipu Sultan Nagar.

PFI state secretary Sharief Bajpe welcomed the gathering and made the introductory remarks. Nisar Honnavar delivered a vote of thanks. Khader Navoor compered the programme.

Mangaluru: A sense of shock and anxiety has gripped the city as Mumtaz Ali, brother of former MLA Mohiuddin Bava, has gone missing. His car was discovered abandoned near the Kuloor Bridge in Mangaluru early Sunday morning, sparking a frantic search operation.

The black BMW, found damaged at the scene, prompted immediate action from fire and emergency service personnel who rushed to the spot and began combing the river. The atmosphere was tense as Panambur police confirmed the vehicle belonged to Mumtaz Ali, heightening fears for his safety.

Commissioner of Police Anupam Agrawal and former MLA Mohiuddin Bava arrived at the scene, joining the growing crowd of concerned locals gathered along the riverbank. 

As search efforts continue, the community holds its breath, hoping for positive news in this difficult and emotional time.
