Two injured in sword attack near Kajoor Dargah

Mangalore, Mar 3: Incidents of two persons being attacked with a sword near Kajoor Dargah have been reported from Belthangady Taluk.

Aboobakkar Siddiq was waiting for a vehicle near Kajoor Dargah in the morning when a group includng Addu alias Abdul Rahiman, Mohammed, Hamza, Siraj, Salid, Toufiq reportedly attacked him with a sword and fled from the spot after giving him a life threat.

The injured Aboobakkar Siddiq was taken to a Mangalore hospital by a certain Haaris. While Mr. Haaris was busy with Mr. Siddiq's treatment, his brother Umar Farooq was also attacked near the very same Kajoor Dargah.

Members of the same group which attacked Mr. Siddiq stopped Mr. Farooq and asked him as to why his brother helped Mr. Siddiq and later assaulted him. While Mohammed used a club to assault Mr. Farooq, Abdul Rahiman injured his hand with the sword, it is said.

The group fled again with a life threat to Mr. Farooq. Mr. Farooq was later taken to the hospital by Jalaluddin, who happened to pass by the street when the group fled.

Belthangady police have registered a case.

In a significant development, a special court tasked with handling cases against Members of Parliament and Members of Legislative Assemblies (MP/MLAs) has ordered that a First Information Report (FIR) be filed regarding the Muda case.

Additionally, the Karnataka Lokayukta, which is an anti-corruption body, has been tasked with investigating allegations against Siddaramaiah, who is reportedly involved in the case.

The court instructed the Lokayukta (an anti-corruption authority) to provide a report within three months. It also ordered the relevant authorities to file a First Information Report (FIR) regarding the case.

Judge Santhosh Gajanan Bhat issued the directive, compelling the Mysuru Lokayukta police to commence an investigation following a formal complaint lodged by Snehamayi Krishna. 

The Karnataka Lokayukta in Mysuru is required to carry out the investigation under Section 156 (3) of the Criminal Procedure Code, which mandates the registration of a First Information Report (FIR).
