According to sources, the party is keen on fielding former Karnataka DG&IGP in the elections, though it is not yet clear whether it will be the Assembly polls this year or the Lok Sabha elections next year.
If Mr. Bidari wishes to contest the Assembly elections, the Congress is reportedly planning to field him either from Indi in Bijapur district or from Terdal in Bagalkot district.
However, Mr Fernades clarified that the party had not promised any ticket to Bidari to contest the coming Assembly polls.
On Friday, Bidari met Fernandes at the Congress headquarters and held a discussion. Though Bidari tried to meet All India Congress Committee?president Sonia Gandhi, he could not get an appointment on Friday as she had other engagements.
