Mysore, Mar 25: The race for oneupmanship has begun between the BJP?and KJP in the districts of Mysore and Chamarajanagar - a strong Veerashaiva belt.
A day after Medical Education and district in-charge Minister S?A?Ramdas launched his campaign from Alanahalli in ward 63 of Krishnaraja constituency, his arch rival and KJP candidate H?V?Rajiv too kickstarted his campaign from the same ward, on Sunday.
This particular ward is a BJP?stronghold, with the party retaining the seat in the recent elections to the Mysore City Corporation.
For Rajiv, former chief minister and KJP president B?S?Yeddyurappa was by his side, but Ramdas was on his own. Speaking to the media on Sunday, Yeddyurappa rubbished BJP's claims of the constituency being the party's?stronghold.
He later left for party meetings organised at different venues in Chamarajanagar district. Beginning with Gundlupet,?Yeddyurappa later addressed party workers in Chamarajanagar town, Kollegal and Hanur. His political bete noire, Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, was in Chamarajanagar three days ago. Shettar, accompanied by State BJP president Pralhad Joshi, had addressed a party workers' convention in the?town on March 22.
