Mangalore, Mar 26: Holi, the festival of colours, was celebrated in its true spirit with great fervor in Mangalore on Tuesday.
People of all ages could be seen on the streets or outside educational institutions with atleast a hint of colour of their faces. Even on the eve of Holi, a few could be spotted smudged with colour at busy intersections of the city.
In professional colleges across the city, students were seen hurling bright colours on each other. While some participated in the revelry with gusto and zeal, others took part reluctantly.
Campuses of SDM Law College and Srinivas College of Physiotherapy were tinted with colour powders in different vivid hues. Taking a step further, final year students and interns studying in Srinivas College of Physiotherapy celebrated Holi by splashing coloured powder on each other followed by coloured water. Buckets of water rained on the students playing in the courtyard, which also served as an effective way to beat the heat this summer.
Few other open spaces in the city became makeshift places for common people to celebrate Holi, which is usually observed with lesser religious fervour than in northern parts of India.
