As many as 8, 49,571 candidates are expected to appear for the examination at 3,003 centres across the State.
The examinations will begin with the first language paper, and it will end on April 10.
Director of Karnataka Secondary Education and Examination Board (KSEEB) D. Venkateshiah said that elaborate arrangements had been made to ensure that there was no malpractice.
“We have set up squads, including inter-district squads, and appointed State observers to ensure that there are no malpractices,” he added.
Of the 3,003 centres, 250 have been identified as sensitive. To ensure that there is no paper leak, the board has banned private tutors from conducting late night tuitions and will also deploy squads at photocopying shops, near the tuition centres.
Meanwhile, to help students tackle examination pressure and clear their doubts, the board has set up helpline. The helpline will function from April 1 to April 10 between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Students who wish to get assistance can call the helpline nos. 080-23310075 and 080-23310076.
Rumour mongers, beware!
Venkateshaiah also said that no leniency will be shown to those spreading rumours or are found to be involved in any unfair practices, including leakage of question papers. "We have deployed squads of BEOs and police night beat for surveillance of areas. Any one spotted discussing question papers or distributing handwritten or typed papers will be rounded up and handed over to the nearby police station for verification. Safety of question papers is our top priority," he added.
