Harsh Gupta, Deputy Commissioner, DK, released the video containing public awareness on voting in the form of a mime performance by the 'Abhinava' team, Mangalore.
Speaking after the official release, Mr. Gupta said that people get bored of speeches and hardly pay attention to important things they need to know about voting. Spreading awareness through an interesting and captivating mime performance will serve the purpose better, he opined.
The Deputy Commissioner expressed hope that the district will register better voting percentage this time around. “Earlier, the district administration would be primarily be busy with maintaining the election code of conduct and not pay enough attention to creating awareness among people on the need to vote. This time, there has been an improved effort in this direction too. We hope that there will be better voter participation this time”, he said.
Dr. K N Vijayprakash, CEO, DK Zilla Panchayat, said that an impressive election awareness campaign has been carried out in the district this time even deploying Yakshagana and awareness campaigns in malls of the city. The video CDs of the mime performance would be distributed among different government departments. CDs were handed over to representatives from the district health department, RTO, KSRTC and Sthree Shakti groups on the occasion by the Deputy Commissioner.
Dr. Harish Kumar, Commissioner, Mangalore City Corporation (MCC), was also present.
