Mangalore, Apr 14: To commemorate the decennial year celebration, Saanidhya Residential School and Training Centre for Mentally Challenged organised an art and craft exhibition 'Vision – 2013' where a variety of handicrafts made by differently-abled children were kept on display for visitors.
Handicrafts ranging from handmade candles and artistic paintings in vibrant colours to pillow cases and decorated vases, which were displayed in the exhibition, gave a glimpse of the talent of these children. Visitors were visibly drawn to the colourful flowers made by.
Various other crafts such as showpieces of Yakshagana headgear, earrings, table mats, pouches and mobile covers decorated with unique designs and patterns ensured that each visitor returned with a purchase.
The exhibition was inaugurated on Saturday at Kadri Park by General Manager (Production) of Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilisers Ltd (MCF) who lauded the efforts of the school for having organised an exhibition which showcased the talents of the special children.
Principal of Women's Polytechnic Mangalore Major B Vijaya Kumar also spoke on the occasion and praised the efforts of the children.
Administrator of the school Vasanth Kumar Shetty welcomed the gathering. Deputy General Manager of Public Relation and Administration, MCF Divakar Shetty was present.
There will be a cultural programme 'Saanidhya Utsav' by the students of Saanidhya Residential School at Kadri Park on Sunday evening, where National Award winner Anjana Devi and National Paralympic athlete Madhushree will be felicitated for their achievements.
