Briefing about the party's poll preparations at a media conference in the city on Thursday Mr Karnik claimed that BJP government stressed on enhancing the level of education in the state like no other government.
“In the last 3 years, Karnataka government spent maximum funds for education in the whole country. We set aside Rs. 18,666 crores for education in this year's budget. It was our government which opened scores of government colleges in the state, besides giving generous grants to schools and colleges and making fresh lecturer appointments in several educational institutions. Separate universities for music, Sanskrit, agriculture, horticulture and the like were started by the BJP government in this tenure”, Mr. Karnik added.
The MLC did admit however that the standard of Ashram Schools, Morarji Schools, schools for girls and Urdu schools in the state are not up to the mark. “We admit there are loopholes there. The problem is that these are under bodies like the Department of Health and Family Welfare or Department of Minorities. They must be directly brought under the ambit of the Education Department”, Mr. Karnik opined.
