Addressing a news conference on Monday, senior Congress leader B Janardhana Poojary said that Ms. Gandhi will address a public rally at Nehru Maidan at 1 pm on April 27. He said that meetings have already been held in Bantwal, Puttur, Sullia, Kadaba and Belthangady directing party workers to bring as many people to the venue as possible.
Commenting on BJP's national leaders Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj, L K Advani and Venkaiah Naidu's remarks on the UPA government while campaigning in Bangalore for the state polls, Mr. Poojary said that the BJP leaders have no right to comment on the UPA government when their own state government in Karnataka was marred by corruption.
“Does Sushma Swaraj not remember her Bellary visits? Did she not see the golden chair at Janardhana Reddy's house? Did she not notice Katta Subramanya Naidu in the very stage she gave a speech on? Rajnath Singh said that all tainted leaders are now outside the BJP. Why did you not have the courage to call Yeddyurappa a thief when he was in the BJP. Why dis you only ask him to step down from the post of the Chief Minister and not throw him out of the party?” Mr. Poojary shot a series of questions.
