Belthangady, May 3: As the sun set, as many as 180 couple entered into wedlock at the 42nd free mass marriage ceremony organised by Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade at Amruthavarshini Hall in Dharmasthala on Thursday.
The marriage ceremony commenced with Dr Heggade handing over saris, blouse pieces to brides and dhoti-shawl to the grooms on Thursday morning.
Film actor Devraj and Chandrakala Devraj, advocate Billappa H, Birla Company Managing Director Jayaraman and Meenakshi Jayaraman and others were present. Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade blessed the couples as they tied the knots at 6.40 pm muhurtam.

The 180 couple who entered the wedlock included people from Kerala and other parts of Karnataka and different professionals like journalists, daily wage labourers, agriculturists, businessmen, lecturers and drivers.
The cost of mangalasutra- Rs 6,500, Sari and blouse-Rs 450, Dhoti and shawl- Rs 200, Rs 300 for religious rituals, food for 20 members (from the family of each couple) Rs 1,050, decoration and music Rs 300 and in total Rs 9, 400.
