New Delhi, May 20: The Congress high command is likely to ask Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to hold another round of expansion of his Cabinet by inducting one or two legislators representing the Legislative Council.
As per the rules, only a minister representing the Legislative Council should be the ruling party floor leader in the Upper House. With no member from the Upper House finding a place in the newly constituted council of ministers on Saturday, the party wanted to induct one or two members from the Legislative Council to end the procedural imbroglio.
“To set right the procedural lapse, the party will ask the chief minister to induct one or two members from the Upper House before the start of the session on May 29,” sources in the party told Deccan Herald.
As the news of another round of expansion spread, a number of aspirants began arriving in the national capital for lobbying. Senior members of the Upper House, Veeranna Mattikatti and S R Patil, arrived here and started meeting party leaders.
Other leaders, including former minister Motamma, are likely to arrive on Monday.
Some of the disgruntled members of the Legislative Assembly are also likely to arrive in the national capital in a day or two to meet the party top brass to express their unhappiness over not inducting them.
