Mangalore, May 25: Strongly retaliating at the Bharatiya Janata Party for alleging that the state Congress government was indulging in revenge politics, veteran Congress leader B Janardhan Poojary said that it was the BJP government that had resorted to revenge politics by means of attacks on churches and mosques, and putting reporters doing their duty in jail.
Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, he said that the provinces of Byndoor, Mulki and Kadaba will definitely be converted into taluks. There's no question about this, he stressed.
Taking a dig at BJP's plans of 'Jail Bharo' programme in the district, he said that this inevitably had to happen. “People of the state will not forget the misdeeds of the corrupt BJP government. However, instead of the district BJP, it is members like former state BJP president K S Eshwarappa and others who deserve to go to jail for their misdeeds,” he claimed.
The chief ministers of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and other states, who belong to the BJP, are mired in corruption, and so is the chief minister of Gujarat. If the BJP has any morality at all, the Gujarat CM has to be asked to step down from his post, he said.
Allegations of ACP harassment
On the recent allegations of harassment of ASI of Pandeshwar police station in Mangalore by ACP T R Jagannath, Mr Poojary said that the Chief Minister had to take up the issue seriously.
“An investigation in the matter will not suffice. Rather, the CM has to take strict legal action on the one proven guilty within a month, so as to set an example to the entire state. If the statement of the female police officer is proven false, then action should be taken against her through a judge, he said.
