Corp Bank sets milestone in implementing official language

Mangalore, Jun 1: Making advances in the implementation of the official language Hindi in the operations of the bank, Corporation Bank has taken several initiatives to promote the language even among the masses, informed Chairman and Managing Director of the bank Ajai Kumar, at a press meet held in the city on Friday.

Speaking to mediapersons, he said that initiatives such as Hindi workshops and training for staff members, bilingual usage in computer systems and website, and publishing magazines and other help literature such as Kshema, Mangala and Tridhara, were taken up to promote and popularise the official language. Several incentive schemes were introduced in the bank to encourage staff members at various levels to work in Hindi. The Corporation Bank has been guiding and supporting the banks, Central Government offices and Public Sector banks in the implementation of the language, he said.

In view of the efforts made by the bank in implementation of Hindi, the Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, has conferred 'Rajbhasha Vishisht Samman' on the bank. A Bilingual Technology Research Institute is set up under the auspices of the Town Official Language Implementation Committee (TOLIC) headed by Corporation Bank.

The Bank has also come up with revised interest rates on housing and vehicle loans, as well as Vyapar loans, said Mr Kumar.

Executive Directors A L Daultani and B K Srivastav, general manager P S Baliga and assistant general manager Dr J P N Nautiyal were present.
