Speaking after releasing the book, S Balaraj, Former Kollegal MLA and singer, said that Mr. Shetty remains a role model for many young Tulu writers.
Congratulating the senior writer on the release of his latest work, Mr. Balaraj said that books play a great role in preserving the essence of cultures and societies. Although things change with time, books continue to remain as sources of guidance for generations together, he said.
Dr. Ganesh Amin Sankamaar, folk scholar and lecturer at St Aloysius College, Mangalore, presented an analysis of the book 'Athithi Nammamma' on the occasion. Centering the book around Koti Chennayya theme, Mr. Shetty has made an attempt at presenting the essence of Tulunadu in true Kannada spirit, Mr. Sankamaar said. Mr. Shetty's agricultural background and his expertise in the field is reflected in the work as agricultural life of Tulunadu has been portrayed adequately well, he said.
Lamenting that some of the other works of Mr. Shetty have not been discussed and thrown open for analysis as well as they could have in the past, Mr. Sankamaar expressed hope that 'Athithi Nammamma' will be discussed thoroughly in literary circles.
