83-year-old Bava Musliyar was the Khazi of Kasarogd for a prolonged period of three decades. Hehad not been keeping well for some time now, family sources said.
Bava Musliyar, was elevated as the Samyuktha Khazi of Kasaragod in May 1983. He commanded the respect of all sections of believers for the diligent spiritual guidance he offered.
The Khazi was also the president of the Samastha Kerala Islamic Education Board. He discharged his duties from the Malik Dinar Juma Masjid at Thalangara.
Bava Musliyar played a key role in managing the orphanage and educational institutions run by the Juma Masjid. The last rites were at Velimuk at 9 a.m. on Monday.
He also officiated as the Samastha district president and the treasurer of the Malabar Islamic Complex.
Samyuktha Jamaat president and former Minister Cherkalam Abdulla; Kasaragod municipal chairman T.E. Abdulla; Sunni leader M.A. Khasi Musliyar; and former Minister C.T. Ahamed Ali visited the Khazi's residence.
