Physical deformities have been found in large numbers even today in new borns of the affected areas. On the availability of the data, experts say that four to six children are born every day with inborn physical abnormalities.
Scanning all the pregnant women in endosulfan affected areas for possible fetal abnormalities is necessary, since most of these women are from poor families and they never opt for routine scanning procedures. Fetal scan during the 19th week of pregnancy can help identify fetal abnormalities and facilitate timely interventions.
The pregnant women will have to approach the scanning center with doctor's prescription. The doctors will have to write on their letter head an instruction to the scanning centre to provide the scanning facility to the particular woman free of cost, authenticating that she hails from Endosulfan affected area. The expectant mothers have to get a prior appointment at the scanning centre.
