Mangalore, Jul 9: Abu Dhabi based 'Bearys Welfare Forum' has announced the second phase of 'Shouchalaya Project', a pilot project of construction of toilets for the poor and needy families in the society in coastal districts of Karnataka.
The BWF has already constructed toilets for 33 houses the first phase. In the second phase the forum has planned to construct another 50 toilets in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.
An application has been invited from the needy families and the construction work is expected to commence soon, said Mohamed Ali Uchil, President, Bearys Welfare Forum, Abu Dhabi.
Delegation
Meanwhile, a delegation of community leaders comprising of Mohamed Ali Uchil and Khader Talapady, met Mangalore City North MLA B A Moideen Bava.
The delegation urged the MLA to pressurize state government to simplify the process of obtaining seats in professional colleges for Non-resident Indians of south Indian state.
Mr. Bava expressed sympathy about the problems faced by NRIs from coastal Karnataka, mainly those who are residing at Gulf countries and promised the delegation to take up the issue with authorities concerned.
