All the accused have been subjected to preliminary round of investigation but the cops have faced a little inconvenience in proceeding with the case as the DNA reports of the accused have not been received.
The sources in the department say that they can submit the charge-sheet without the DNA report too but if they submit it with the DNA reports, they would be completing a very important stage in inquiry.
At the DNA testing centres, several old cases are still pending, hence, one cannot exactly say as to when the reports will be out, says Udupi SP Dr M B Boralingaiah.
Though the accused have been taken to the spot, Parade has not been conducted. The victim has given her statement. The police department is positive of preparing a strong charge sheet with the DNA report and various circumstantial evidences.
The gang-rape happened on June 20 and on June 27 three accused were in police net.
It may be recalled that the prime accused Yogish was nabbed by the police in a crucial state after the accused made an attempt to kill himself by consuming poison. Later Hariprasad and Anand too were nabbed.
Anand too had attempted suicide. It is said that situation of Anand is not as serious as Yogish.
The victim who left the Manipal Hospital after treatment has not yet returned to Manipal.
