New Delhi, Aug 13: Congress leader Digvijay Singh today accused the BJP of sparking communal incidents in states of Bihar, Jammu & Kashmir and Rajasthan.
The AICC General Secretary had alleged in July that BJP would instigate communal riots in Congress-ruled states ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha elections as the opposition party feels that it cannot win without "communalising" the polls.
“6 Communal Incidents in 2 months in Bihar Communal Violence in Kishtwar, in Tonk Rajasthan. I had warned BJP shall target non BJP States,” Digvijay tweeted this morning.
Curfew was imposed in Bihar's Nawada town where police resorted to firing yesterday following a violent clash between two communities, in which at least half a dozen people were seriously injured.
Police opened fire when a mob attacked the Bundelkhand police station in Nawada, about 150 km from Patna.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday expressed dismay over attempts to create communal tension in the state.
Kumar and Digvijay's accusations have been emerging since the JD-U broke its alliance with the BJP. They have blamed the BJP for allegedly trying to create communal tension.
Jammu and Kashmir's Minister of State for Home Sajjad Ahmad Kitchloo resigned Monday as the death toll in the communal violence that erupted in Kishtwar three days ago rose to three.
Also, Omar Abdullah and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) were locked in a war of words after the Kashmir administration did not allow BJP leader Arun Jaitley to tour Kishtwar.
