Mangalore/Bantwal, Aug 15: Two youth were injured in a clash that erupted between two groups late at night on Wednesday in Adyanadka near Vittal in Bantwal taluk following a torch-light procession.
The clash occurred when one group was obstructed while they returning home shouting slogans after taking part in the procession that was undertaken in Vittal on the eve of Independence Day to mark 'Akhanda Bharata Sankalpa Dina'.
Members of another group raised objections to their shouting slogans, which led to heated arguments between the groups resulting in a clash.
Adyanadka is located at the border between Karnataka and Kerala, and comes under the limits of Badiyadka police station. Karnataka police rushed to the spot the brought the situation under control.
Three youth were taken into police custody, and the injured youth Jamsheer and Ashraf have been admitted to a hospital in Kasargod.
The torch-light procession had been organised by Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal on Wednesday, commemorating the partition of India.

Similar processions were undertaken in Bantwal as well as Mangalore, observing 'Akhanda Sankalpa Dina'.
Bantwal Town Municipal Council member Govinda Prabhu flagged off a two-wheeler rally in Bantwal. The rally passed through B C Road, Panemangalur and Kalladka, before culminating at Polali temple.
