Delivering the keynote address on the occasion, manager of publication Shanthi Prakashana Mohammed Kunhi said that religion was not the cause of problems, but rather, the lack of religious consciousness was the root of all problems.
“At one point of time, religious functions were celebrated by people of different communities together. But the situation has come to a point where appeals have to be made to maintain peace on the eves of major religious festivals. Along with celebrating all festivals, open discussions on religious festivals are also necessary, he said.
Inaugurating the programme on the occasion, Lions District Governor K C Prabhu said that the main aim of the organisation was to promote peace all over the world. In this regard, the organisation gives importance towards celebrating all religious festivals, he said.
Lions Club Eid celebration committee co-ordinator Khalid Thannirbavi welcomed the gathering. Mohidin Kunhi made the introductory remarks and Badruddin proposed a vote of thanks.
Lions district chief organiser K Prasad Rai and office-bearers including Shanteri Prabhu, M C Shetty, A Chandrahas Shetty, Aboobakker Kukkadi, Asha Chandramohan, Manjunath Murthy, Kavitha Shastry and Fahmeeda Ibrahim were present on the occasion.
