Announcing this at a press conference here on Wednesday, Gurkaar of Mandd Sobhann Eric Ozario said that six awards would be conferred in total, based on Konkani vocal music albums released in the year 2012.
“Awards such as Best Male and Female Singer, Lyricist, Music composer, Music arrangement and Music album will be given away at the award ceremony. Any vocal music album, in any dialect of Konkani language, by any person belonging to any religion, including devotional albums, will be eligible for the awards. Each award will consist of the title, cash prize of Rs 25,000 and a trophy,” he said.
In addition, a Global Konkani Music Lifetime Achievement Award will be given on the occasion for the second time. This will be awarded to someone who has contributed qualitatively to developing Konkani music and to popularise it. This award will consist of cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, a trophy and public honour, he said.
The final three nominees selected by the jury, in each category, will be invited to the awards ceremony and honoured, and the final winner will be announced at the ceremony, he informed.
