Kasargod, Aug 31: Two men were arrested by the police while they were transporting as much as 46 kilograms of cannabis (ganja) in Kasargod on Saturday.
The two arrested have been identified as M G Murali (42) resident of Idukki and Sunil David (34) resident of Ernakulam.
The police arrested the duo at a junction in Kasargod while they were transporting ganja in a Toyota Qualis bearing registration number TN-09-AB-6327. They were suspected to be travelling from Idukki to Kasargod.
Based on reliable information, a police team stopped the vehicle and conducted a search which was futile. Later, the suspects confessed to having hidden ganja in the vehicle after being interrogated. The police team conducted a thorough search again and found the cache of ganja parcels cleverly concealed inside the seats of the vehicle.
Ganja weighing 46 kilograms was found in several parcels, which were to be transported and sold in Kasargod. The arrested men are said to be middlemen of a large deal, and Kasargod police are searching for the main persons involved in the deal.
Both the cache of ganja and the vehicle were seized by the police.
A case has been registered by Kasargod police.
