Addressing reporters in Mangalore, Mr Deve Gowda said that the Congress tried to weaken the JD(S). On breaking tied with the Congress, the JD(S) joined hands with the BJP, which continued the half done work of the Congress and continued victimizing the JD(S).
“As a former prime minister I will see to it that my party is made stronger in coming days. I will take up three rounds of tour in the State to fortify the party. Meanwhile, H D Kumaraswamy will tour Mysore region to fortify the party,” said Mr Deve Gowda clarifying that the JD(S) will not venture into any coalition with either of the national parties in future.
He informed that the party is instead holding talks with the Left parties and by October end, it will decide on candidates for all the 28 constituencies.
Commenting on the appointment of Mr Krishnappa as JD(S) state Chief, he said that the party is not trying to lure the party hoppers but it was a move to give more power to leaders hailing from weaker sections.
Injured
When Mr Deve Gowda arrived in Mangalore, he was injured after his fingers got sandwiched between the doors of his car. With blood clotted fingers, he managed to hold a press meet and after the press briefing he proceeded to a hospital to treat the injured fingers.
