Brussels, Sep 20: U T Khader, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Government of Karnataka has addressed the European parliament in Brussels in Belgium.
Addressing the EPMA World Congress, through a video conference on Thursday Mr Khader said that the participation of scientists, academics, researchers in Congress would help in exchanging the ideas, sharing best practices and exploring care innovations in health care, especially towards predictive and preventive medicines.
It would also help to collect and use our collective wisdom to address common challenges faced in the region and to raise the standard of health care systems and also can be figured out through the potentials of the traditional Indian medicine, he said.
Speaking on Indian healthcare and medical system he said that amidst the increase in non-communicable diseases and the constant threat of global epidemics, we have to be constantly innovative and find ways to keep our population healthy with affective health care services. It requires strong management capability and leadership quality in the health care sector, which has transformation, he added.
He also highlighted the importance of traditional medicine. Traditional therapies, which served people for several thousand years in India and China, have survived even in costly era, he said.
He emphasized that the health care should be affordable to each every commoner.
Incorporation the ancient therapeutic modality across the world will combat the shortage of preventive medicine, he said adding that the community based approach on the lines of US NIH basic research has to be started to convince the importance of traditional therapies to the world.
Briefing about the recent health care measures of Karnataka government the minister said that sophisticated Ayurvedic hospital will be established in each taluk of this south Indian state to take Indian origin medicine to the doorsteps of each citizen.
Mr Khader seized the opportunity to invite the European delegates to Mysore Dasara. He said, during this festival more than five thousand students will expose the benefits of traditional Indian medicine which will strengthen Indo-European collaboration.
