Manipal, Sep 22: The police on Sunday picked up two persons on the charges of raping a four-year-old girl child in the town of Manipal in Udupi district.
Even though the gruesome incident reportedly took place earlier this week, it came to light very lately.
The nursery student used to commute in a school bus every day. On September 16, while returning home, she missed her regular bus, and boarded another bus of the same school.
According to sources, Shubha Kumar, Sudheer, and another employee, who were onboard the bus allegedly sexually assaulted the girl. However, it is not yet known whether the accused committed the crime inside the bus or somewhere else.
When the girl did not return home on time, her parents contacted the school authorities, who confirmed that she had left the school along with other students.
However, after a couple of hours the accused dropped the girl home by an auto-rickshaw. The girl, who was in a state of shock, revealed the incident to her parents only after a couple of days.
The parents on Friday approached the jurisdictional police station and lodged a complaint. The Manipal police swung into action and managed to arrest two of the accused on Sunday. They are on lookout for the third accused.
